The first medical degree granted in Canada is Doctor of Medicine (MD). Residential period is called Post-MD. International students can study medicine in Canada. However, given the very low intake capacity of Canadian universities in medicine, it is very difficult to enter these programs. Entering a medical program requires having a bachelor degree in fundamental science (including bachelor of chemistry, biology and other related majors) or its equivalent degree and attending Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Passing MCAT is a perquisite to gain admission and enter to a medical program in Canada. 17 universities in Canada offer medical programs (including pharmacy and dentistry).
